Today marks 4 years since I have started my journey with the SAFRP after a serious stroke and incorrect decisions taken from a senseless life to recovery to meaningful, healthy means and ways of living. These 1460 absolute sober days at this place happened without any judgement where I was only loved and accepted for what I am with support and believe in me. With taken accountability and responsibility of my life I was granted the opportunity to coach others in recovery and those with problems, acting as spiritual Lead in bringing Hope and God’ remembering of us all. I was granted the opportunity to have found my Saviour commencing a living and meaningful relationship with Him spreading the Gospel and His daily Grace in my life. This place brought me to my purpose in Life and God’ plan for me in it. The past year (since Apr’25) I have started my own “teVREDE Pet and Home sitting” business with a current booking rate of 90% for the time and many teVREDE, happy customers who make use of my services over and over becoming friends of mine. I am however still resident to the SAFRP committed to donations and each of the inhabitants of this project appreciating all who has crossed my journey. My blessings were extended and amplified by the birth of my first Grandson, Jordaan during January’26 upon the continued success and blessings of my business initiative. My sincere thanks and appreciation to Leigh and Marius du Preez of the SAFRP for your guidance and support, for providing me with a stable and the best platform in becoming the best version of myself I ever have been for everybody around me in serving my Saviour. You have became my family and part of my life. Thank you to all who chose to stay in my life (family, friends, new friends) making it purposeful. Thank you and recognition to God for ultimately supporting me and second chances in Life.

What a lovely sharing and spreading of love to bring joy from within to my people at the South African Family Relief Project from my friends and customers of TeVREDE Home and Pet Sitting. You all are so appreciated and part of my hart
We would like to extend a massive thank you to one of our past residents Leon Spamer and his friends that came out yesterday and spoiled everyone with with boerewors rolls, cupcakes and much needed food donations. What an absolute blessing that someone we assisted in the past came to give back. Leon is a success today and we are so incredibly proud of him. This is what love truly is about. It is a testament of our work and that people don't just move on but that we end up being family. All the Glory to God. Thank you Leon we are so proud of your success.

Update our residents had a wonderful meal at Christmas and New Years and each one got a small gift. Without you this would not have been possible. Everyone on our project thanks you.
SAFRP has given out 32 400 meals this year that equates to around R50 per plate of food giving it a Rand value of around R1 620 000 million rand alone just on food. Without your help and support throughout the year we would never have been able to feed these beautiful folks. We have had hard days and good ones too and we would like to thank each and every donor who gave this year in order to feed and cloth these amazing people. A simple thank you could never be enough but it's all we have to give. Thank you. May everyone have a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New year. Please don't forget to send your food voucher to us. The rain has made our Farm Project look so beautiful with all the green grass, and another storm on it's way from a distance. How blessed we are to stay in a safe space.

Hi, I'm Bernadette. I have just turned 64. I have been a resident at SAFRP for five and a half months. I lost my job. My children was not in a position to help me at that stage. So my son managed to get hold of Leigh and Marius du Preez, who with open arms accepted me. They have been a pillar for many people, and I can honestly say that when I leave on Sunday all though returning to my children, is joy for me, I'm going to miss them terribly. They have a heart for people who are in need. They do everything they can to help people. And, we have formed a very close bond, actually. I'm going to miss him terribly. I've made a lot of very good friends here who I am going to miss and stay in contact with, but I would encourage you, do not lose hope. Jesus is always there, they are always there. They are always there for you. Okay. So if you are in need, Contact them. Trust them because they have your best interests at heart. I can honestly tell you that we have more than sufficient food to eat. They provide for us whatever they can, and some of the food is actually to die for. Especially when Leigh makes something. If she even makes bunny chow and I'm not here, I think I'm going to have a heart attack. But anyway, I have enjoyed my time here and I'm blessed that I could help some people who also have problems even though I have my own, because it helps you also not to focus too much on your own things and your own problems. And for me, it's very important if somebody reaches out to you and you can help them do it. Don't think twice. (So your experience basically on the farm project was a positive experience.) Very Positive (Yeah. And how safe did you feel?) Very safe. Very, very safe. You can you can go to sleep at night and not have a worry in the world. There's animals around, which also I love nature. So that also keeps you grounded. Believe me, for me, it keeps me grounded. (Yeah. And then how do you feel about the rights that the residents have. Do you feel that their rights are respected? And that they have their own privacy and, from SAFRP’s side towards the residents?) Absolutely. There are rules and regulations which has to be, in effect, in a place like this. It cannot be any other way. It cannot be. So you must have respect. Follow the rules. Yeah. And you won't have any problem. Yeah. It's important. It's very very important. And I must honestly say as soon as I get a chance I will come visit. I know that if I'm ever in this position again Leigh and Marius will accept you back with open arms. And I feel humbled that I had the opportunity to have a safe roof over my head and just be, you know. Yeah. There’s so much a person can say, but all I can say is I have nothing bad to say, and I'm grateful. I'm very, very grateful. (Thank you so much.)
